TXBC Exec Committee conference call minutes

Overall Short-Term Goals
- Top priority - Identify our best prospects for stakeholders - which organizations are already breastfeeding champions and advocates? (realistically 10-20 organizations??)
- Stakeholder committee will be tasked with circulating list of best prospects (much shorter than current list) to existing coalition members, defining the types of stakeholders we want (those who are already breastfeeding champions), and finding out who knows a high-level person on the list so we can narrow it to our best prospects
- Divide responsibility geographically and personally invite stakeholders.
- Draft/ revise letter (Here is exciting opportunity to be involved at inception..we applaud your breastfeeding work to day...we want you to join our coalition…your input is important..our goals are..purpose of stakeholder meeting…)

- Coalition goals
- What are members' agendas?
- Here's what we'd like from you
- Postpone bylaws
- Postpone decision on membership dues until a later date.
Timing
- Set a meeting date and location for initial stakeholder meeting and request funds for travel (Office of Women's Health) - Akin Gump could host in Dallas, Kat could host in Austin (but we may want to meet in Austin in spring 2007 for legislative activity)
- Talk to Julie Stagg about meeting re DSHS Infant Feeding Position Statement - we'd like to attend to (i) evaluate participation and interest in breastfeeding and (ii) hand out a flyer about stakeholder meeting (Julie's goal is to have statement revised by Oct. 2006)
- Assuming Julie's meeting is before August, we could spend August (World Br Month) inviting stakeholders to a meeting scheduled for September.
- Rani - review and revise stakeholder letter; set up meeting with Dr. Sanchez; circulate dial-in for June 16
- Judy - contact Mary Beth and ask her to send email to coalition members with draft stakeholder list to review, and will draft a coalition “fact sheet” to distribute with stakeholder invitations.
- Janet - prepare membership application / interest form to post on TXBC website
- GOAL for June 28 full membership call - stakeholders list should have been reviewed and narrowed so we can finalize list and give overview of what we need from our members in the way of invitations
- Next Exec. Comm call - June 16 at 1:00 pm
