Stakeholder list: The list of potential stakeholders was shortened to be closer to 12-15 in accord with guidelines presented in the coalition building workshop attended by Judy Hopkinson. This recommendation was based on the observation that this number encourages ownership and participation while larger numbers discourage individual stakeholders from taking initiative and responsibility. Larger numbers also result in higher drop out rates. Additional stakeholders and members will continue to be invited to join the coalition throughout the life of the coalition. A decision was made to include both working stakeholders and “guest” stakeholders. The later category was for legislators and possibly others who might like to participate in media events but may not have time to perform the actual tasks of the stakeholders. The list of potential stakeholders identified is attached separately. In each case (with one possible exception) a TXBC exec committee member volunteered to make the contact and deliver the stakeholder invitation. Kickoff event: A decision was made to hold the kickoff event and the stakeholder luncheon in September rather than August in order to allow more time and to allow members to focus on their local WBD/month events. Julie Stagg agreed to produce two press releases: The first will be shared with local coalitions so that they can use it at their WBD events. It will announce their support for and participation in formation of the Texas Breastfeeding Coalition. It will also announce that the official kickoff for the TXBC will be held in September of 2006 in Austin Texas and that more information will be released to the press soon. The second will announce the kickoff event and formation of the Texas Breastfeeding Coalition. Stakeholder luncheon: A decision was made to hold the stakeholder luncheon and kickoff press announcement in Austin in September of this year. Rani Garcia is checking to see whether this can be done at the Akin Gump facility in Austin. Kat Jackson is checking to see how much financial support we can get from Medela. A decision was made to invite all the pump companies to provide financial support for this event. HOWEVER – no plans were made for implementing this decision. Logo pricing: Janet Rourke has located a graphic designer who will produce the logo for a fee of $25/hr. We will need to give her the logo. The following elements were identified as desired logo components: Texas Community support Mother and baby breastfeeding Janet Rourke suggested variations on the shape of Texas with a heart in/ around it and a breastfeeding mother and baby inside it. Someone suggested supporting hands, and someone suggested a Texas star. Linda Jackson volunteered that she has a possible logo designer who might help. Other: A decision was made to hold the next full coalition meeting in Austin in January to facilitate lobbying for TX breastfeeding legislation by TXBC members. Action Items:
