One of the Texas Breastfeeding Coalition’s goals is to increase public awareness and acceptance of breastfeeding. One of the ways we do this is by maintaining a legislative presence to promote breastfeeding as a health policy issue. The TXBC legislative committee works to secure bill sponsorship and garner support for legislation that promotes breastfeeding; networks with other organizations to develop and advocate strong breastfeeding policy agendas; explores other opportunities to engage and inform legislators about breastfeeding as a policy issue including capitol visiting days, legislator visits, committee briefings, and interim studies; and posts existing and proposed national and state policies, laws, and legislation on this website.
